About us

Fonden Gaia

Life is beautiful, and we’re passionate about helping you feel safe enough to live it freely again.

We don’t know who you are the first time you walk through our doors. But we do know it takes strength and courage to take that first step. And we understand what it can feel like to be in the middle of something that feels impossible to find your way out of.

At Fonden Gaia (The Gaia Foundation), you’ll find a safe, welcoming, and homely space you can lean into when you need professional support to leave violence behind. There is room for you and your loved ones exactly as you are.

We’re down-to-earth, informal, warm, and open. We know that everyone is different, and that every day can feel different. That’s why we meet you where you are—with respect and openness. Because when you’re doing well, we’re doing well.

Some days, we’ll share a much-needed laugh with you. Other days, we’ll offer a shoulder to cry on. Some days, you’ll need peace and quiet; other days, we’ll help you take small or big steps toward the life you dream of.

What all days have in common is that we create a sense of safety in everyday life—in a way that feels right for you. Because when you feel safe, the strength to build the life you truly want can slowly begin to grow.

A life free from violence. A life with real quality of life.

That’s what we’re here to give you.

Our values

Professionalism

We are committed to ensuring a professional, skilled, and well-qualified approach.

We do this by developing and strengthening our competencies through knowledge sharing, continued education, and the ongoing pursuit of new insight in the field—always with respect for our own and others’ professional expertise.

Authenticity

We do what we say we do.

We achieve this by ensuring clarity and predictability, and by building relationships on a foundation of honesty, presence, and trust.

Accessibility

We aim to be visible and accessible both internally and externally.

We do this by, as far as possible, keeping the door open to those who need us, ensuring the phone is always answered, and having staff who are actively present both in the house and in the public sphere.

Well-being

When you are doing well, we are doing well.

We aim to create a space and environment where people can thrive, so there is energy and capacity for growth and development. We do this by ensuring a balance between expectations and demands, thereby supporting success in both small and large steps.

Engagement

We provide each individual with fair and just treatment.

We do this through a holistic approach, by exploring and clarifying each situation from all perspectives. We follow through to the end with a focused and coordinated effort.

Respect

We aim to treat people equally by treating them differently.

We do this by respecting diversity and individuality, and by meeting each person with understanding, without prejudice or judgment.

Vision

Fonden Gaia aims to be an organisation at the forefront of building bridges between the different actors within the field of violence, with the purpose of strengthening and improving efforts for women and children affected by violence. The goal is for them to emerge stronger on the other side, so they are able to live independently without support and avoid returning to or re-encountering violence.

Mission

Fonden Gaia aims to support people in crisis or socially vulnerable situations in creating meaning and coherence in their lives. We do this by offering a holistic and qualified service that focuses on helping each individual gain the strength and integrity needed to move toward living an independent life as quickly as possible. The support therefore consists of a coherent and targeted effort, focusing on the person’s competencies and resources from start to finish.

In this way, we create a clear thread throughout the process—from the holistic perspective to the individual needs of each person.

Organisation

Fonden Gaia is a foundation whose purpose is to promote quality of life for people of all ages.

We are a non-profit organisation with a professional board, which helps ensure a well-founded, professional, and financially sustainable operation of the organisation. Any available funds within the foundation are used exclusively for activities, projects, or similar initiatives that support and advance the foundation’s purpose.

The foundation is approved by Socialtilsyn Midt and is subject to ongoing evaluation. Further information can be found on Tilbudsportalen.
