Volunteer
Become a volunteer
at Fonden Gaia
Do you want to make a difference for women and children affected by violence? As a volunteer at Gaia, you become an important part of the house – and with your time, presence, and effort, you help create safety, calm, and positive experiences during a difficult time.
What you get as a volunteer
We make sure you feel well prepared for the role – and we also take care of you.
As a volunteer at Gaia you will receive:
- A thorough introduction and training
- Ongoing supervision, support, and opportunities to develop your knowledge of the field of violence
- A meaningful community with other volunteers
- Insight into work within the field of domestic violence
- Free food and drinks while you are on duty
- Themed evenings, social events, and the feeling that you are making a real difference
Your tasks as a volunteer
You have a great deal of influence over how you would like to contribute. You can, for example:
- Run activities with women and children – such as cooking, creative projects, wellness, or trips outside the house
- Look after children while their mother takes a break or attends an appointment
- Take an overnight sleeping shift (you sleep in the house and are available if someone needs help)
- Help with practical tasks such as cleaning or kitchen support
- Accompany a woman to meetings as a volunteer support person
- Offer something unique – for example teaching, financial guidance, or other skills from your own background
Vores forventninger til dig
- We prefer volunteers who are comfortable communicating in Danish, though we also value language diversity and may especially appreciate additional languages such as Arabic or Russian
- You take at least one shift every two weeks (approx. 3–4 hours per shift)
- You are reliable, proactive, present, and have a good sense of situation awareness
- You are able to handle unpredictability and know when to step forward—and when to step back
- You want to be part of a place where professionalism and warmth go hand in hand
