Important items to bring for your stay at
Gaia Crisis Centre
Your safety and your children’s safety are the most important. If it is too risky to bring the items listed below, focus on getting away safely.
When you take the step away from violence and move into a crisis centre, there are some things that are important to bring with you.
At Gaia Crisis Centre, we provide the essentials that you and your family need. Duvets, pillows and towels are available in all rooms, and we have a small supply of basic necessities.

Documents
As far as possible, you should bring:
- Nem-Id/MitID
- Your yellow health insurance card (sygesikringsbevis)
- Passport
- Marriage certificate
- Visa/Dankort or debit card
- Housing documents
- Residence permit (opholdstilladelse)
- If you are bringing children, remember their documents as well
Personal items
If possible, you should also bring:
- Personal belongings that are meaningful to you, for example photos, jewellery or similar
- Keys to your house or apartment
- Clothing appropriate for the season
- Toiletries
Bank
- Using a payment card or bank card can reveal your location if the perpetrator can access online banking, mobile banking, etc.
- Therefore, withdraw some cash away from the crisis centre.
Telefone / Computer / iPads
- Turn off location services on your phone and be aware that you can be tracked via your device.

- Change the password for your Apple ID, Google account or similar, as access to these can reveal your location. Enable two-factor authentication.

- Change your mobile provider password, as access to this account can reveal who you have contacted.
- The safest option is to buy a new, inexpensive phone and a new phone number, for example a prepaid SIM card.
- Also be aware of children’s phones, iPads and other electronic devices that may reveal your location.
Checklist for children
Bring these if possible.
- Their favourite teddy bear, favourite toy, dolls, PlayStation or other things the children may miss
- Clothing appropriate for the season
