For those exposed to violence

To you, who has experienced violence

The development, forms and signs of violence

Violence can develop gradually and become part of everyday life without always being immediately visible.

Violence in close relationships often unfolds over time and can take many forms – from psychological and economic violence to physical and sexual violence. Many women experience several forms of violence at the same time, and over time the violence may become more intense and frequent.

For many, it is difficult to put into words what they are experiencing, as the violence can be subtle and become normalised in daily life. The longer the violence continues, the harder it can be to break free from the relationship.

Here you can read more about how violence may present itself, which signs to look out for, and where you can get help.
